Thailand is preparing to nominate Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park, also known as Khao Wang, in Phetchaburi, for UNESCO World Heritage status.
Built in 1859 under King Rama IV, the hilltop complex is recognized as Thailand’s first known mountain royal palace and spans three peaks overlooking Phetchaburi.
The Fine Arts Department is now studying the site’s eligibility and preparing information for Thailand’s UNESCO Tentative List, with community participation and the site’s outstanding universal value among the key considerations.
