Tense ในภาษาอังกฤษ ช่วยทีครับ _/\_

ผมกำลังเขียนรายงานฉบับนึงเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ
สงสัยเรื่องแกรมมาร์ครับ

ภาษาไม่สละสลวยนะครับ ผมไม่เข้าใจวิธีใช้ภาษาเเบบเจ้าของภาษาเท่าไร  
ยังคิดแบบไทย แล้วพยายามแปลเป็นอังกฤษ

In 2000, my work in a plant was to inspect machines. The plant (has / had) 2 production lines, each with the capacity of xxx units/day. One day I suspected a machine (cannot / could not work?) because of a problem in the upstream units. I (think / though) it was because Mr.A forgot to change spare parts of the machines on the other day.
