In this research, the most 111 shared news articles’ headlines were classified into 11 common news categories ranked from the most to the least common. As for the most contributed news types, this result suggests that The Guardian gives significance to crime, politics, news about accident, conflagration and natural disasters, social news and environment, respectively. These types of news basically involve in negative incidences or only negative stories are chosen to report in these news types. Parallel to the study of Poornananda (1998) investigating The Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post’s coverage of South Asia countries, crime, disasters, dissidence, government, institution and personal issues were mainly reported due to their negative contents. The similarity of the researches is corporative because The Guardian and the other news outlets are U.S media related to news of South Asia countries including Thailand. Additionally, the most appeared keyword as the main topic of crime is wildlife trafficking. This could mean that an illegal activity is able to draw attention of The Guardian due to its negative content. These outcomes were identified as a big frame of Thailand representation influencing on readers’ perspectives about the country. This is similar to a previous study (Kulaszewicz 2015), which showed that the racist image of African-American criminals were represented by the word ’black’ used in news articles. The study investigated word choices used in news media towards African-American people that can guide people’s belief. Regarding the another aspect of the result, the other news categories considered as less common such as science, entertainment and sport were classified from around 1-10 articles of the chosen news. These types of news are possibly insignificant for the news outlet.
