I would recommend Ivy-league look which is all-American timeless style. It was once a mainstream from mid-1950s to around 1968. There are both Summer Ivy and Winter Ivy look.  

Outdoor: Climate in this country is incredibly hot but it is not an excuse to ditch a jacket. You should try lighter fabrics i.e. linen, seersucker and madras and of course light colours.

- Khaki Cotton sport coat (with natural shoulder, 2.5 buttons, unlined and hook vent)
- White button down sport shirt (three-finger collar, flap pocket and back collar button)
- Narrow Repp tie/Madras tie
- Olive cotton pants (with turnup legs and no break)
- Surcingle belt
- Oxblood Bass weejuns

As a side note, if you are more adventurous, you should try madras or seersucker sport coat.

Indoor: Again stick with lighter fabrics and soft construction

- Navy hopsack sport coat (natural shoulder, 2.5 buttons, no dart, hook vent)
- Light blue Club/Golf collar dress shirt
- Narrow repp tie (either Argyle & sutherland or brigadier of guards stripes)
- Gray herringbone pants (with turnup legs and no break)
- Dark brown Engine turned plaque belt
- Argyle socks
- Dark brown Longwing brogues
