Hong Kong, China, August 8, 2014 - China beat Thailand 3-1 (29-27, 25-18, 20-25, 25-15) in the second match in Pool F of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2014 on Friday night at Hong Kong Coliseum.
China coach Lang Ping: “It’s always a good learning experience playing with Thailand, they always cooperate well. Though our team are taller on average, our defense was relatively weaker, and would need improvement in receives and blockings. Thailand is well-rounded, Italy has many experienced players and good in defense, Japan changes a lot in recent years, I am not at all familiar with it yet.”
China captain Hui Ruoqi: “We are really delighted to win this game because we’ve done a lot of preparation beforehand. During the game, our teammates encountered various problems but we’ve helped each other to overcome. In the third set, our serves were not as aggressive as the previous sets, chances were given to Thailand. For the match tomorrow against Japan, we’ll prepare well tonight as their defense is stronger.”
Thailand coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai: “Congratulations to China team. It was a good match for both teams to learn and improve. China has improved a lot since last month and demonstrated solid teamwork during today’s match. Our team players tried to get as many points as possible but we failed since we made technical errors. We hope our performance will be improved in tomorrow’s match versus Italy.”
Thailand captain Wilavan Apinyapong: “Congratulations to the China team. It was a very good experience and our team enjoyed today’s game. China played well and we made several errors. It was not easy for us to gain points. We hope our weaknesses will be rectified in future.”
