Prior to the birth of Islamic Modernism at the very early part of the present century, Indonesia Islam was in a state of “darkness” as was clearly indicated by its decadence as a concept of belief, and by the backwardness or intellectual underdevelopment of its followers. Its decadence was largely because the faith was highly influenced by Sufism and age-old religious traditionalism. Because the decadence of social and moral, many people had abandoned religious principles. And part people have worldview to religion just a ritual, superstitious or magical, etc. Ahmad Dahlan could not bear to see above problems, so he think find a way to solve. And enhance the lives of people under strict Islamic principles. He spread Islam in Indonesia under an organization named Muhammadiyah
