could you please check this following sentences , is it correct to say ?

So, i would like to say this following sentences :

would it be awkward to hear these sentences, and is it grammatically correct

1.My english skill wasn't good enough to get more scores above determined

2. I couldn't get passed/get past the exam yesterday

Are these both sentences correct?

( and the second one really makes me confused between  GET PASSED and GET PAST. Could someone explain it ? )
