i dreamed a dreamจาก Les Miserables ถามเรื่องแกรมม่าหน่อยครับ

1.but the tigers come at night,
with their voices soft as thunder.
as they tear your hope apart.
as they turn your dream to shame.
ประโยคเปรียบเทียบที่ไม่มีจริงพวกนี้ สงสัยว่าทำไมเขาถึงใช้เป็น present simple หมดเลยครับ (ผมนึกว่าใช้ past simple เสียอีก)
2.he slept a summer by my side.
he filled my days with endless wonder.
he took my childhood  in his stride.
but he was gone with autumn came.
ผมสงสัยว่าbut he was with autumn came. ทำไมถึงใช้เป็น passive voice
พอดีไม่ได้อ่านหนังสือ เลยไม่รู้ว่ามันเกี่ยวกับเนื้อเรื่องหรือเปล่า
