Two years ago, I became interested in English. I told my dad, and he said I could go on a summer program, but I had to find a country that would be a good choice. I asked my teacher, and he told me to choose New Zealand because it's great for studying, people are friendly, and it is very safe. I was so excited, but when I went to the airport, I felt worried because I had to go only with my brother. And our English skills were still basic.
The first thing that surprised me was how close my house is to the school. It is easy and takes very little time to get there. A difference from Thailand that I noticed is food, education, and safety. People in New Zealand are very friendly and make me feel welcome. In one day, they can have three seasons: hot, cold, and a little bit of rain. The first challenge for me was making friends in class, but they were so friendly to me too.
In class, I learned about writing and math; in sports class, I learned how to play dodgeball. It was so fun. Outside of class, I learned to go home by myself, cook my lunch, and live on my own. My English improved a lot because I used it all the time, which also made me more confident. On my first day, which was very memorable, many friends came to talk with me and were very friendly.
I made my best memories while traveling with my host family. We went hiking in the mountains and also visited the mall. I spent most of my time with my host family, but when I went to school, I always played with my friends. They were very friendly. I gained experience living on my own. Occasionally, I had to cook my own meals. Some things were difficult, but I could overcome them, and the experience made me a better person.
New Zealand changed me for the better and gave me many wonderful memories. I learned that my friends and I come from different countries, but we are friends. This experience gave me some of the best memories of my life. I love New Zealand because it is so safe, people are friendly, and it is good for studying. I strengthened my English skills so much. I hope that one day you can visit New Zealand as well, because it can give you wonderful memories too.
