Today's post will discuss why we see so many profanities, curses, and swear words in movies and
hip-hop music, especially in American culture.
Despite its negative connotations, profanity has become part of modern culture. In particular, we can see
this in the entertainment industry, such as in movies and music mentioned previously. However, for Thai students,
it is essential to know that Thai culture does not accept profanity, and it is not a norm in our society.
Thus, we should not consider this language part of our educational achievements.
Since the law allows Americans to express their emotions such as anger and frustration without punching
or acting out, it has other advantages, too, such as employing words instead of violence. In addition, it is a characteristic of American
culture.
In America, you can shout or curse at someone when upset, but you will be charged with assault if you touch their body.
