Finding More Time and More Happiness on the Inside
Lately, I have had my doubts about why people around the world become so busy. Sometimes we seem to make our lives busier when they do not need to be. For example, when I am traveling in the tube or when I am bored, I find myself opening social media apps like Facebook. It seems like the easiest thing to do. When I see that people like my posts, my heart starts pumping. The responses of my friends made me happy.
However, one day, I posted a lot of photos, and nobody liked them. I started feeling down. I started to question why I tried to post anything if people weren't even going to like it. I didn't understand why my happiness depended on the number of likes. I began to worry that there was something wrong with my mentality about these social media apps. They were starting to ruin my life.
I decided to take action and delete the Facebook app for two days. As a result, when I was bored and searched for the Facebook app on my phone, I could no longer find it. I had to remind myself that I no longer had access to Facebook on my phone. I decided to allow myself only five minutes a day on Facebook from my web browser.
This decision has improved my life. My concentration has improved. I feel happier and realize that I cannot let the reactions of others on social media influence my happiness. I still enjoy great friendships with others, even without spending all that time on Facebook.
I would not advise anyone to delete Facebook or any other social media apps that they have. This doesn't mean that you have to stop using them permanently. Facebook is helpful for keeping in touch with friends and maintaining a strong connection. I still use Facebook five minutes a day from a web browser, but I don't use it on my phone. It's too tempting to spend lots of time on it. I have learned that life is too short to spend so much of it staring at a screen. May all of us enjoy our lives to the fullest and find the happiness we seek.
