death eludes with compassion at least
while rests so quiet and at peace

tuck in gently and begin to weep
after a time as one fade into sleep

grateful eyes stare all the while
life exhales slowly begins to smile

dawning of death but with dignity
a breath of death to comfort and ease

looks around with searching eyes
and quickly it came as no surprise

no longer a reason to pretend
knowing it's so very near the end

tries so hard not to let it show
all the pain that come to know

but then life had become so weak
desperately only wanting to sleep

watched sadly as there soul sat
as it calmly folded of life combat
