"Once you start, there's no going back." Awesome. Fire up this short film from filmmaker Patrick Kalyn, debuting a dark and exciting new sci-fi short titled Mech: Human Trials. Good news, it has already been optioned for a Hollywood feature, with Black List writer Mike Le adapting the script for Patrick Kalyn to direct, reports The Wrap. The short, running only 5 minutes, has just debuted online in full and it's a must watch - for only five minutes, this packs a punch, and I really want to see more from it already. As always, I love featuring great short films like this, especially when they're original sci-fi. This is also a great primer for William Eubank's The Signal, if I might say, which Focus is putting out in theaters in June. Check this out!

Desperate to mend himself, he becomes consumed by the drug - only to discover it is threatening his humanity. Mech: Human Trials is written, directed & produced by Patrick Kalyn, starring Steve Baran, with cinematography by Cliff Hokanson; and music by Sam Hulick and Nick Borrego. The short was teased as an anti-mech PSA, at Don'tDoMech.com. "As an esteemed member of your community, we are seeking your help. Mech Free Partnership is a non-profit organization founded to educate people on the dangers of Mech use. This terrifying new drug is emerging as a dangerously addictive and fatal killer of young Americans. With your help, we can work together to uncover the origins of Mech and stamp out its existence before it becomes a true epidemic. Please take a moment to watch our latest PSA and forward it."
