Yes they do, but apes do it more often. I have seen this numerous times in the wild, and I used to be a zookeeper, where I saw it regularly. It is part of their display behaviour - if two monkeys or apes are squaring up to each other, rather than immediately starting a fight that could injure them both, they try to decide who is dominant through posturing, showing their teeth, beating the ground or surrounding vegetation, and throwing things. They will throw anything that comes to hand, including dirt, stones, branches, food and faeces. In many cases, this allows one to back down before either are hurt.

The chimps at the zoo I worked at once took exception to my boss, and threw so much poop at him that he had to go home and change. Strangely, I found it funnier than he did.
