Thailand post easy straight-set win over Uzbekistan
Manila, Philippines, May 1, 2015 – Southeast Asian powerhouse Thailand cruised to an easy straight-set (25-14, 25-10, 25-13) triumph over Uzbekistan to post its first win in Pool D of the Rebisco U23 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship powered by PLDT Home and Smart Live More at the PSC Philsports Arena on Friday.
Ajcharaporn Kongyot pumped in 18 points highlighted by 14 spikes and three aces for the Thais, who exposed the Uzbeks’ weak plays and poor reception.
Thailand asserted its assault in the third set turning its 10-3 edge to an 18-9 bubble before capping off the win with back-to-back attacks from Kaewkalaya Kamulthala and Wipawee Srithong.
Srithong chipped in eight points, while Sineenat Phocharoen and Jarasporn Bundasak added seven points each for the Thais.
Saida Allamova posted eight points for Uzbekistan while the others failed to score more than six points.
The Thais ruled in spikes with 45 from the 22 spikes of Uzbekistan. The Thais had six blocks and seven aces, to the Uzbeks’ three blocks and one ace.
