Is it considered rude to use 'for the hell of it' in conversation?

For example, when someone ask me, 'Why did you do that?' And then I replied, 'I did it just for the hell of it'.

What I want to say in thai is, "ทำไปเพื่อความสะใจเล่น ๆ เท่านั้นไม่มีเหตุผลอะไร".

Is that reply ok and met with the meaning that I want in thai?
