Sapporo, Japan, August 31, 2013 – China had to fight hard to maintain their unbeaten record in the FIVB World Grand Prix Finals on Saturday as Japan fought them all the way. China won 3-2 (25-16, 18-25, 26-24, 21-25, 15-13) at Hokkaido Prefectural Sports Center and now face a showdown with Brazil on Sunday for the title. China coach Lang Ping says her team can learn from Japan.
China coach Lang Ping: We prepared for a game like this. Japan is a great team, is very well organised, fast and have great ball control. They have many good things that we don’t have. I think we were looking forward to this game. I told my players Japan are a great team and it’s their home court and there will be a lot of noise. I said, ‘You must concentrate on the game.’ I want to learn from this game. We need to learn many things from Japan. It was a great performance from all the fans and I want to thank the fans for cheering all the athletes.

China captain Hui Ruoqi: Today the match was on Japan’s home court so the noise was very big and we needed to concentrate to play; I know how the Japanese people love volleyball. Japan’s block and defence improved so we just tried to be patient and use our teamwork to win. It was a very valuable game for us.
