高校受験で上京する为、雪の中を駅に歩くシンジ。心配したおばさんから电话がかかってくる
そして駅にはシンジを激励に来た友人2人が。笑颜で会话するシンジ。
シンジ「仆には将来なりたいものなんてない。梦とか希望のことも考えたことなかった。
～けど最近思うんだ。希望が见えないのは仆が希望を探してないからじゃないかと。」
移动中の电车の中で亲子が、地面に刺さっている量产型エヴァを见てる
子供「ママ、あれはなに？」
母亲「あれはね。遗迹。えらい学者さん达が、いろいろ调べてるんだけどね。わからないんだって
いつから建っているのか、谁がなんの为に建てたのか」
そして明城学园前駅、
シンジ「降ります降ります。闻いてないよこんなラッシュは・・・」
アスカ「いたいいたい、降りるって言ってるでしょ。通してよ」
シンジ「大丈夫、君・・・」、手を引っ张る
シンジ、アスカを见て頬を染めて固まる
アスカ「ありがと。助かったわ。・・・ってちょっといつまで手を握ってるのよ」
シンジ「君、前にどっかで会ったこと・・・ない・・・？」
アスカ「キモッ、离してよ。あんたなんかこれっぽっちも知らないんですけど、
ひょっとして、あたしがカワイイからナンパしてるの！？」
シンジ「えっあっ违うよ。全然そんなつもりは」
アスカ「あら、それはそれでムカつくわね。まぁいいわ。助かったしお礼だけは言っとくわダンケシェーン」
と言ってアスカは去る。
シンジは「あっ・・ちょ・・」と呼び止めようとするが、ケンスケが话かけてきて
ケンスケ「すっげえカワイイ子だったなぁ。东京にはあんなカワイイ子がいるんだなぁ。君もそう思うだろ？
君も受験生？明神学院付属受けるの？じゃあライバルだな。お互い顽张ろ」と会话して受験会场に去っていく
シンジ「うん。顽张ろう。自分の歩く道は自分で探すんだ。道は平坦ではなく曲がりくねってるかも知れない。
雨に打たれ风に巻かれるかも知れない。けど太阳が行き先を照らしてくれる。仆の未来は无限に広がっている」
最后にバックに付けているミサトのペンダントが光っておしまい（内容来自Eva吧）
Last chapter is 24 pages, title is "The Road Ahead."
Shinji walks through the snow on his way to the train station to take his high school entry exams. His aunt calls to make sure he's alright. Two of his friends came out to see him off, he talks to them, smiling.
Shinji: I don't have anything I want to be when I grow up. I've never given any thought to things like dreams or hopes. But I've been thinking, lately. Maybe the reason I've never seen any hope is because I've never looked for it.
The train sets off, a mother and child see an MP Eva stuck in the ground as they go.
Child: Mommy, what's that?
Mother: It's a relic. Researchers have been studying it, but they can't find out anything about it. Not when it was built, nor why.
The train stops at Seijou Gakuen-mae Station.
Shinji: Excuse me, coming through, I'm trying to get off. I've never seen this sort of rush...
Asuka: Oww, oww. I said, I'm trying to get off the train! Let me through.
Shinji: Are you alright?
Shinji takes Asuka's hand. He sees her face and freezes, blushes.
Asuka: Thanks, you're a life saver. But hey, how long are you gonna keep holding my hand?
Shinji: Haven't I... seen you somewhere before...?
Asuka: Eww, let go of me. I've never met you before. Wait, are you trying to pick me up or something? Because of my good looks?
Shinji: Ack. Err. No, no, nothing of the sort at all.
Asuka: Hmm, you know, that sort of miffs me, too, in a way. Well, whatever. Anyway, thanks for the help. Danke schön.
Asuka leaves. Shinji tries to call and stop her, but Kensuke butts in.
Kensuke: Wow, she was really cute. They've got some real hotties here in Tokyo. Right? Hey, you here for exams too? You trying to get into Myoujin by any chance? Then that makes us rivals, eh? Good luck!
Shinji and Kensuke walk toward the exam building.
Shinji: Yeah, I'll try my best. It's up to me to find the path I want to take. The way forward might not be straight, it might twist and turn. It might rain, and the wind might blow. But the sun will still shine on the road ahead. My future unfolds forever ahead of me.
In the last cut, Misato's pendant can be seen shining on Shinji's bag.
