Many Bangkokians would not call it an invasion, and with the 700 policemen on duty to supervise the peace at Central World, the numbers of white-masked demonstrators were not intimidating to the capital city of Thailand.
The leadership and motivation which drives the mob was rumored to be related to a leftist group of "forest monks" called Santi Asoke - while People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) took responsibility in the attempt to fan the wave of anti-democracy.
Both groups, Santi Asoke and PAD, had in the past and present, associated themselves with the neo-fascists organization, Pitak Siam (Free Siam) and the communist movement.
The demonstrators were allowed freedom of peaceful assembly as guaranteed by the Government of Thailand.
