How Thai students should prepare themselves for the AEC?
AEC stands for ASEAN Economic Community. It is the cooperation among countries in Asia including Thailand. When countries gathering together as a community, it is possible for the competition to happen among the group. Thai students are supposed to be able to handle with the competition in the areas of adaptation themselves, application of technologies and education.
First of all, Thai students should adapt themselves to be appropriate when they live with the other countries. People have different cultures, so students should learn about the cultures from every ASEAN countries. For example, most people in Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia are Muslim. They strongly hate pigs, so we can avoid to give anything that is made of pig to them in order in live with them happily. Further, Thai students should study about the strengths and weaknesses of the other countries to improve their own country.
Second, application of technologies is another significant part of preparing for the AEC. We cannot refuse that technologies have become one of the most effective stuff for daily life especially the internet. The number of the internet users has grown up every year. In 1993, there are 14 million internet users, and more than three billion people in 2015 according to internetlivestats.com. From the internet, students can know about events that happen all around the world. The internet is a source of knowledge. If students use it in the right way, it will be very helpful. However, many people use the technology in the wrong way, and it causes to harmful results. Thai students supposed to use the internet carefully.
The last and the most important area that Thai students should prepare is education. The quality of Thai student’s education rank among AEC countries is in the 8 out of 10 countries according to World Economic Forum. Students in Thailand should be able to use English fluently because it is the major language in AEC. If they cannot use English fluently, they are probably not going to get a job. In addition, High school students in Thailand should study in a specific area. For example, if the student is interested in science, the lesson that he/she has to learn in school should focus mostly on science subjects.
In conclusion, to prepare for the community that will happen soon, students supposed to focus on at three parts which are adapting, applying and leaning.
